The Things We Buy

The Problem with the things we buy

Consumerism plays an important role in our modern world and shopping is an activity many people enjoy and do for pleasure, either on-line or by visiting shops. As a result, many of us buy more than we really need, and live in a culture of disposable fashion which is taking a big toll on the environment.

Perhaps we need to question when we buy something new if it is really necessary.  We also have a reputation as a ‘throw-away society’ because many items which are still usable are disposed of.

By making changes to the ways we buy food and goods, and generate and dispose of our own waste, we can help make a difference both in carbon and economic costs.
