Course Description

Would you like to live more sustainably? Are you concerned about global warming and looking for ways to reduce your impact on greenhouse gas emissions and pollution?

This course is designed for people in Congleton who want to learn how to live more sustainably. We will explore four key ways you can reduce your carbon footprint and how to form different habits that use less fossil fuels and cause less pollution. We will explain what is meant by your ‘carbon footprint’ and look at simple ways you can reduce it.

Reducing your environmental impact doesn’t have to be expensive and may even save you money. By adopting simple changes that help to shrink your carbon footprint in the home, when you travel and when you buy and eat food. This course will demonstrate the real difference you can make, so you can feel more confident about adopting a greener lifestyle.

The course is packed full of local advice and useful links, to help you make the most of your options and support for sustainable living in Congleton. Enrolling on the course is recommended so that progress is captured through the course. Enroll below by selecting register.

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:

  • Understand the current risks posed by global warming and what is causing it.
  • Describe what a carbon footprint is and why it’s important to reduce it.
  • Make changes to your home, heating and electricity use to save money and use less carbon based energy.
  • Choose the greenest mode of transport for all your journeys.
  • Choose foods with more confidence and understanding of their carbon footprint.
  • Reduce, reuse and recycle the things you buy to limit their environmental impact.
  • Make a list of things you can do right now to live sustainably in Congleton.

Who made this course?

This course has been provided by Congleton Town Council and the Congleton Partnership. Inspiration was taken from the Congleton Sustainability Group’s Sustainable Living in Congleton (SLIC) face-to-face course.
